From 21 to 23 July 2026, the Global Animal Production and Veterinary Industry Summit (GAVIS 2026) was held at the PICC in Malaysia. Under the theme “One Voice, One Health, One Future,” the summit brought together government officials, university professors, researchers, veterinarians, and industry representatives from around the world.
Dr. Kasen represented Numega Group at the summit and was invited to deliver two presentations on food safety, feed hygiene, and animal-disease biosecurity.
In his invited presentation, “From European Practice to Malaysian Opportunity: Advancing Feed Hygiene and Food Safety,” Dr. Kasen shared European experience in food safety management. He emphasized that food safety begins with feed ingredients, feed production, transportation, storage, drinking-water systems, and farm management.
Pathogens such as Salmonella and viruses can enter the animal production chain at different stages. Effective control therefore requires an integrated biosecurity programme covering raw materials, feed mills, transportation, farms, and animal housing. His presentation also highlighted the importance of adopting safer, scientifically validated, and sustainable pathogen-control technologies.
Dr. Kasen and the research team also presented the study “A Study on the In Vitro Virucidal Activity of Paraformic Acid and Formic Acid Against Avian Influenza Virus H9N2.”
The results showed that paraformic acid demonstrated significant in vitro virucidal activity against the H9N2 avian influenza virus. The findings indicate that paraformic acid may support biosecurity programmes by reducing environmental viral loads and helping to interrupt virus transmission.
The study also expands the potential applications of paraformic acid beyond feed hygiene and Salmonella control. It may provide a valuable technical solution for improving drinking-water hygiene, environmental sanitation, and integrated poultry-farm biosecurity.
During the summit, Dr. Kasen exchanged ideas with experts and professors from several countries. Participants expressed strong interest in the application of paraformic acid for Salmonella prevention, viral-risk reduction, and comprehensive farm biosecurity.
